Some things happen in life that is beyond your control. Whether it’s housing issues, deployment, financial problems, death in the family, or something else, you may find yourself with no other choice but to release your corgi to be rehomed. We know how difficult and heartbreaking this decision can be. The good news is that you don’t have to surrender your pet to a shelter! Ask anyone who has worked at an animal shelter and they will tell you – shelters should be the last resort for our beloved pets.
Through North Texas Corgi Connection, pet owners and potential adopters can connect directly when there is no foster home available at the time. Corgis can then go from one good home to another, instead of an animal shelter. Rehoming your pet through direct adoption is simple, smart, and humane.
The option of a courtesy posting is used when:
- it is a mixed breed corgi, or
- NTxCC does not have an available foster home at the time, or
- other circumstances that NTxCC deems necessary
We will post photos of your corgi on our Facebook and Instagram pages, with information about the pup and your personal email address. You will then make contact with whom you feel is the best home for your pet. You and your corgi and the potential adopt-er can meet wherever you like. Most people arrange to meet in a neutral place, such as a local park, that is convenient for both of you. The potential adopter gets to meet your pet in a low-key, low-stress way that allows your pet to act naturally, and you get to take the measure of the adopter and determine if their lifestyle is a good fit for your pet. If available, you can also have a member of NTxCC meet with you both, and help make the introductions and transition smoother. It is possible that you and the potential adopter will decide on the spot at your first meet-up to transfer possession of your pet. This is a decision that is up to the two parties involved, and you should not feel pressured to do so quickly.
If you have an owner-release pet, please make sure your corgi is up to date with shots, and any/all medications. If you are having issues financially, please email or message NTxCC.
Keep them out of the shelter – get your pet adopted to a happy home.
